Cloth Barrier - a water-repellent impregnation for fabric and textiles in the car
From the factory, the car seats are impregnated with a protective coating. The coating wears out over time, just as it can be unfortunate to get stains on the fabric, which must be cleaned off. When cleaning e.g. its fabric seat, you will also remove the impregnation and thus "open" the fibres of the fabric. It is therefore very important that you subsequently give the fabric a new impregnation.
"Cloth Barrier" is based on fluoropolymers that form a hydrophobic / liquid-repellent surface. This "closes" the fabric's fibers again, and it is effectively protected against dirt and grime. If you are unlucky enough to spill something on the seat, it is much easier to remove again.
